Zellis has been chosen by Ipsum Group, a specialist utilities engineering services business, to support its payroll transformation with ZellisONE Payroll Managed Service, for up to 3,000 employees.

As Ipsum grows through acquisitions, it needs a scalable approach that brings together differing payroll arrangements without increasing manual work at the same pace. The business selected Zellis to help simplify payroll preparation, strengthen controls and give HR and Finance teams more time to focus on their wider priorities.

Expert implementation support and guidance through a phased migration were central to Ipsum’s decision. Zellis’s migration guidance and introduction to the team helped build confidence in the people supporting the transition.

Key intended benefits for Ipsum will include:

  • Simpler payroll preparation – Bringing greater consistency to payroll processes across the group will help reduce repeated data handling and the time HR and Finance teams spend gathering and checking information.
  • Clearer ownership and stronger controls – Establishing clearer responsibilities between HR, Finance and Operations will support a more coordinated approach to payroll, alongside improved reporting.
  • A foundation for continued growth – A scalable payroll approach will help Ipsum integrate future acquisitions and bring differing payroll arrangements into a more consistent process.
  • Building internal capability – The initial managed-service phase is intended to provide continuity while Ipsum develops its payroll knowledge and capability through training and knowledge transfer.

The phased approach also leaves room for a potential move to an internally operated software model in the future, as Ipsum’s capability and requirements evolve.

“Ipsum chose Zellis following a detailed evaluation of the UK payroll software market, considering both our immediate requirements and long-term payroll strategy. Zellis stood out through its proven delivery capability, flexible and highly supportive managed service offering, and ability to support the complexity of our payroll landscape.

We were particularly impressed by the team’s understanding of our operational requirements and complexities, and their ability to support both our implementation objectives and future vision for payroll. Throughout the selection process the entire Zellis team demonstrated a collaborative approach, combining deep payroll expertise with responsive and professional support that gave us confidence they were the right partner for our organisation.

We are excited to be partnering with Zellis as we modernise and enhance our payroll service, and we look forward to working together to support our future growth and transformation ambitions.” – Sarah Thomas, Payroll Project Lead, Ipsum

By simplifying payroll and freeing teams to focus on people and growth, Ipsum’s partnership with Zellis marks a practical step towards Worklife Reinvention – redesigning how work gets done for the people who keep the economy moving.
