Over the past 12 months, Zellis has invested significant time working with customers to roll out our payroll portal across managed services. Almost all customers are now live, and for many it has already become a core part of how payroll data is submitted and processed.
As this rollout reaches its final stages, we are preparing to retire the legacy email approach that some customers still use to send payroll instructions.
Why this change is happening
Historically, payroll data was often sent via email, while some data was submitted through the portal at the same time. Running two parallel processes increases the risk of duplication, missed files and delays, both for customers and payroll teams.
The portal was designed to be the single, secure route for all payroll data. Moving fully to this model allows us to simplify the process and reduce manual handling, which directly supports payroll accuracy.
What this means for you
Using the portal as the sole channel gives customers greater visibility and control, as well as reducing the risk of error in payroll processing. You can see when files are received, when they are processed and whether any validation issues or exceptions need attention. Feedback happens instantly, rather than via email follow ups.
When will email submissions be retired?
Over the next three to six months, Zellis will work with customers to ensure all payroll related data and instructions are submitted through the portal. The ability to send submissions via email will not be switched off for any customer without prior discussion, and no customer will lose access before they are fully set up and supported on the portal.
It’s worth noting here that payroll queries will still be submitted via email.
