National Payroll Week, organised by the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals, was first established in 1998 to celebrate the payroll profession and those individuals who work tirelessly to keep the UK paid.

Often the unsung heroes within many organisations, the annual event provides the perfect opportunity to shout out our amazing payroll colleagues and give them the recognition they truly deserve.

So, this National Payroll Week we arranged a few activities and surprises to honour our hard-working payroll teams who are dedicated to delivering the very best service to our customers every single day. Not only that, but we also celebrated our official return to offices for the first time in over 18 months.

Here are some of the festivities that took place across our centres this week.

Introducing our Zellis payroll legends 2021

Our annual payroll legends awards returned – shining a spotlight on ten colleagues within our services teams who received the most nominations in our recognition platform, MyAppreciation, across the year for embodying one of our three company values: Unstoppable Together, Always Learning, and Make it Count.

Congratulations to all our 2021 payroll legends:

Office decorations and goodies

As our long-awaited return to offices fell on the same week as National Payroll Week, what better way to mark both occasions than with office decorations and goodies? Branded travel flasks, water bottles, and sweet treats means our teams are now well prepared for the journey to and from their office once again.

Getting competitive with our payroll quiz

We couldn’t let National Payroll Week pass without putting our colleague’s knowledge to the test for a chance to win prizes. With questions on Statutory Sick Pay, Tax Allowance, National Minimum Wage, and SEPA, plus additional questions specifically around Zellis, we received entries from many colleagues across our services teams. However, there could only be one winner, which was Reeni Dcruz. Congratulations Reeni!

After an eventful National Payroll Week, we hope all payroll professionals up and down the country enjoyed their celebrations. A massive thanks to every single one of you for your hard work in keeping the UK paid, not just this week, but every week.
