If you’re a regular user of Twitter, you might have come across the #mypathtoHR series that has been trending recently. We’ve loved seeing the different journeys that the inspiring HR community have taken to reach their current roles and thought we’d share some of the stories from some of our own inspiring HR team members.

Christine Walker, Talent Acquisition Leader

In my early career as Head of Sales and Customer Engagement in retail banking, I quickly understood the impact a strong HR team can have on the success of your business. I realised these key decision makers had a great opportunity to influence the workplace environment and drive change.

After a lengthy career in banking, I made the move into HR. I started working in a Recruitment Process Outsourcing (RPO) environment, which meant I had the opportunity to work with multiple clients and appreciate the diversity of their workforce. A move to inhouse recruitment was the next natural step.

Today I lead the Talent Acquisition Team here at NGA Human Resources. Knowing the direct impact my team has on the growth and success of our business is immensely rewarding.

Nicholas Eaton, Senior Talent Acquisition

After an area management role in banking, I made the move into the recruitment industry with a market leader, Michael Page before
eventually joining NGA Human Resources in the Talent team.

My role today is to enable clear and meaningful careers for all levels of new and prospective employees and watch them grow within those
roles. I love understanding and learning from the different personality types across the various talent functions. Delivering long-term career opportunities for resilient people to thrive in is what makes me tick.

I think it’s great that our profession is not static – people and businesses are dynamic. Whether we’re talking about new legislation, change
in corporate direction, a company re-organisation, taking on new HR vendors, or expanding into new regions or locations – there is an element of taking what we know and applying it to another situation or scenario.

Katrina Simmonds-Godman, HR Business Partner

I have always really enjoyed working with people and had previously been in a customer services role before joining NGA Human Resources, so working in HR felt like the next natural step.

My path to HR started when I applied for a job in our internal HR Admin team and was successful. From there I joined the Global HR
Team working in Reward and subsequently undertook my CIPD qualification before moving into the HR Business Partner role.

The best things about working in HR for me is the interaction with so many different people and facing so many different
challenges. Every day brings something new and I really feel that I’m making a difference.
