Zellis is extremely proud to have successfully recruited a number of apprentices over the last few years. For National Apprenticeship Week 2019, we wanted to hear from some of our past and current apprentices to find out about their experience at Zellis and their exciting plans for the future.
For young people who struggle to find work after leaving university, apprenticeships can offer the only route into their chosen career.
Michael Roberts is an apprentice working from the Zellis Bristol office with the PROIV team. He’s studying for a level 3 Software Development Technician qualification.
What made you choose to go down the apprenticeship route?
“After graduating from university in May last year, I found it really difficult to start a career as a lot of jobs I applied for were happy with my qualifications, but all said I had a lack of experience. I decided the best option for me would be an apprenticeship as I would learn something new and at the same time develop a portfolio as well as gain experience as I will be working on the job.”
What are the benefits of being an apprentice?
“It’s a stepping stone that will help me to propel my career forward. Everyone needs that ‘something’ to get them started. Zellis has put their faith in me, giving me training and letting me get involved in projects. That’s rewarding and motivating which makes me want to work harder for Zellis. I want to prove myself and I don’t want to let them down.”
